Christian Education
Church School welcome and registration is Sunday, September 8th - classes resume Sunday, September 16th!

Children and Youth Ministry (Church School starts @9:30am on Sunday mornings, from the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend)
Our mission is to create a setting where each child may encounter the eternal truths of God's kingdom and the unfathomable love of Christ. Our Christian formation ministry is founded upon the belief that Christ calls children as Jesus' disciples to a life-long journey of growth and transformation. Our ministry to children intends to begin that journey in a safe, creative and expressive environment where the mystery of God is experienced through the wonderful truths of scripture, the encounter with Biblical stories and personal creative and artistic expression.

Material used for Pre-School & Kindergarten & 1st Grade (~Ages 3-6): The children will be taught stories from a child’s bible, along with back up video’s for each story. This class focuses on establishing and building the foundation of a child’s religious understanding.

Material used for grades 2-3 (~Ages 7-8): Weaving God’s Promises is a comprehensive, three-year Christian education curriculum with two programs developed and written exclusively for the Episcopal Church:

Material used for grades 4-5 (~Ages 9-10): Weaving God's Promises is also used for this class.

Material used for grades 6+: 6th grade marks a shift in the approach to Christian Formation at St. John's. The focus expands from a pure classroom setting to embrace more aspects of the Christian life. The focus of this class consists of connecting faith with lived life through outreach projects, faith formation, and acolyte programs.

Youth Group (Grades 6-12, ~Ages 11+): The pre-teen and teenage years are tumultuous and exciting ones. The Church walks with youth as they discover the complexities of the world they live in and begin to explore challenging social, spiritual, and emotional issues. This upcoming program year (2018-2019) youth group gatherings will be scheduled monthly.

Adult Christian Formation
Christian formation for adults occurs in a variety of ways at St. John's Church. There is a traditional Bible Study that happens on Tuesday mornings at 10:30. During this time we explore the reading for the coming Sunday.

Please check for other special instructional offerings; they will be announced by the Priest-in-Charge in weekly bulletins and our monthly newsletter.
